 Anyone with an affection for Alfred Hitchcock movies is well aware of his proclivity for personal cameos … often just a quick glimpse of the great director. He actually makes some type of appearance in 39 of his 52 movies, and the video below edits them together for a 5 minute look … starting with the 1927 silent films. My personal favorites of these Hitch cameos have always been Lifeboat (1944), Strangers on a Train (1951), and The Birds (1963).

Its interesting you posted this. It brings up a story I wanted to share. IN 12th grade I took a film class. The second half of the semester we had to make a film that was at least 10 to 15 minutes long. I very much wanted to do a suspense kind of thing. Somewhat like the HALLOWEEN movies, just not much blood, more atmosphere
Anyway, one shot I had in my head that we never filmed was a parody of Hitchcocks North by Northwest cameo where he misses the bus. I had a scene in the counselors office waiting room. I wanted to have it that myself ( the director) and someone else was waiting. Have the counselor call ” next”, then the other guy rush ahead of me, and i’d be standing at my chair still, not fast enough then be seated again to continue waiting. It never got on film though. we didn’t get to use the counselors office. We used the library and when we filmed, there were too many people in there at the time to make it work.

Adam, I feel certain you were one of many that Hitchcock inspired over the years. Although, your high school must have been filled with more ambitious students than mine … can’t imagine we ever had a rush of students to meet with the counselor!
